Truck Driver Fatigue/Driving Hour Log Violations

Injured from Truck Driver Negligence?

“If your tires aren’t rolling, then you aren’t getting paid.” This is common knowledge to those in the trucking industry. And because of this, truckers often push themselves to extremes to stay awake and stay on the road. At The Law Offices of Gretchen Myers, P.C. in St. Louis, Missouri law firm, we help people who have been injured in truck accidents caused by truck driver negligence and trucking company indifference. Accident investigations often show that driver fatigue has contributed to the accident.

Have you been injured in a truck accident? Did your loved one die in a truck accident? A lawyer can help you get money for your injuries. Call The Law Offices of Gretchen Myers, P.C. at (314) 621-5454 to schedule your free initial consultation. You may also email the firm and someone will be in touch with you within 24 hours. We accept truck accident cases on a contingency fee basis. We do not charge a fee unless we are successful in obtaining compensation for you.

When Driver Fatigue Causes Injury and Death

As part of her accident investigation, Gretchen carefully reviews the days and hours leading up to the truck accident. For example, the overall driving time in the month prior to the truck accident needs to be calculated because the driving hours are cumulative and so is driver fatigue. The driver’s log book will provide details regarding what they did the day of the accident — What time did they start their day? When did they arrive at the trucking company? When did they arrive at their end destination? Receipts for coffee, food and gas need to be cross-referenced with driver’s log entries. Any driver log violations will surface in the investigation.

As an experienced trial attorney, Gretchen handles claims that involve drug use, alcohol use and DUI charges. While random drug testing of truckers is utilized, it does not catch all the abuse, but it could save many lives.

Through the investigation, other issues may surface. For example, it may be found that excessive speed would have been required to make the load on time. Or, it may be found that defective equipment or an overloaded truck was allowed out on the road. When these mistakes are made, catastrophic injury and death can affect the lives of innocent people.
