Jennifer Matthew is a Trial Lawyer at the Law Offices of Gretchen Myers, P.C. in St. Louis, Missouri where she concentrates her practice in the areas of catastrophic trucking accident cases, harassment and discrimination employment litigation, product liability, wrongful death, medical negligence and personal injury law. She has tried over 50 jury and bench trials in her career. In recognition of her trial excellence and an impressive record for winning cases Jennifer has received trial star awards.
Before joining the law firm, Jennifer worked for 11 years as an Assistant Circuit Attorney for the City of St. Louis prosecuting major felony crimes. Her work enabled her to advocate on behalf of countless victims and their families in order to obtain justice. She assisted them through every stage of the case while it was pending in the criminal justice system. Jennifer’s caseload included violent crimes, drug possession, stealing, burglary, tampering and domestic violence. Jennifer prosecuted countless sex crimes and child abuse cases, securing guilty verdicts on behalf of adults and children who had been traumatized and abused. Jenifer also presented to local nurses who were training to become Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners on the proper protocols for evidence collection and preservation. She has a passion for justice and works tirelessly to ensure that victims have a voice and those who violate the law are held accountable.
Jennifer was recognized in 2016 by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as an Up & Coming award recipient for her dedication to public service. Further, she received numerous trial star awards, justice awards and an MVP award during her tenure as a prosecutor.
Elected in 2015, Jennifer currently serves on the Missouri Bar Board of Governors. She is also a Missouri Bar Foundation Member, recognized for her service to the Missouri Bar. Jennifer previously served on the Young Lawyer’s Section council of the Missouri Bar for four years. She was elected by her peers to the Executive Board and was actively involved with the CLE, Editorial and SLU Alumni committees. She represented Missouri as a delegate for the ABA Young Lawyers Division. Jennifer is also actively involved with the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, having previously chaired the Government Lawyers Committee. Jennifer was also appointed by Mayor Slay as a Trustee for the St. Louis Mental Health Board. In September 2017 Jennifer will join the Board for the Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater St. Louis.
Jennifer Matthew graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in International Relations from James Madison College in 2001 and received her JD and International Law Certificate from Saint Louis University in 2004. During law school Jennifer was selected to be a member of the St. Louis University Public Law Review and during her final year she served as the Executive Editor. Jennifer was also selected for the Saint Louis University Mock Trial team. She continues to assist the SLU Law Mock Trial Team and serves as a guest judge presiding over trials and offering constructive feedback to the students. Jennifer has always had a passion for trial work, advocacy and the pursuit of justice in the face of injustice.
